Ingredients
Scale
3 ripe avocados
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
Instructions
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
Add the fresh lime juice immediately. This step helps prevent browning.
Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocado to your desired consistency. For a molcajete guacamole texture, leave some chunks.
Stir in the chopped white onion, cilantro, minced jalapeño, and salt. Mix gently until just combined.
Taste the mixture and add more salt or lime juice if needed.
Serve immediately with tortilla chips or use as a topping for tacos.
Notes
To keep guacamole green longer, press a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the dip before refrigerating.
If you prefer a spicier dip, leave some seeds in the jalapeño.
For a smoother texture, you can blend the ingredients briefly in a food processor.
