Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomato
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced Italian deli meats (ham, salami, capicola), chopped
  • Crackers, crostini, or vegetable sticks for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Italian salad dressing, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper until combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded provolone cheese. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add the mayonnaise mixture to the cheese mixture. Stir until fully incorporated and creamy.
  4. Fold in the chopped lettuce, red onion, green bell pepper, tomato, black olives, and chopped deli meats. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the hoagie dip in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to blend.
  6. Serve your cold deli dip with your favorite crackers, toasted crostini, or fresh vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a slightly warmer flavor profile, you can slightly warm the cream cheese and provolone before mixing, but keep the final dip cold.
  • If you prefer a tangier flavor, add 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar to the dressing mixture.
  • This dip is excellent made one day ahead of time; the flavors deepen overnight.
