Make the best soft and chewy M&M cookies that have slightly crisp edges. This easy recipe uses melted butter and requires no dough chilling time, making it a quick homemade treat.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups M&M’s candy pieces
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the M&M’s and chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Press a few extra M&M’s onto the tops of the dough balls for appearance.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers look slightly underdone.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For the softest center, slightly underbake these cookies; they will set up as they cool.
  • If you want thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes, even though this recipe is designed to be no chill.
  • Use room temperature eggs for better incorporation into the batter.
