Make a rich, spicy comfort meal by turning your favorite instant Buldak ramen into a creamy carbonara style dish. This quick recipe delivers intense flavor satisfaction.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 packet Buldak sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Remaining Buldak powder seasoning packet
  • 1 tablespoon pasta water (reserved from cooking noodles)

Instructions

  1. Cook the ramen noodles according to package directions, omitting the sauce packets for now. Before draining, reserve about 1/2 cup of the hot starchy cooking water. Drain the noodles well.
  2. While the noodles cook, prepare the carbonara base. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in the empty saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat completely. Add the drained noodles back to the pan.
  5. Stir in the reserved Buldak powder seasoning and half of the Buldak sauce packet. Toss quickly to coat the noodles.
  6. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the noodles while tossing constantly and quickly. The residual heat from the noodles and pan will thicken the sauce without scrambling the egg.
  7. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved hot pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a creamy consistency.
  8. Serve immediately. You can add more of the Buldak sauce on top for extra heat if desired.

Notes

  • Use only the egg yolk for the richest, creamiest texture.
  • Keep the heat very low or off when adding the egg mixture to prevent scrambling.
  • This recipe works well as a quick spicy dinner when you need comfort food fast.
