Make the best Coquito, a creamy, rich Puerto Rican holiday drink. This easy recipe uses simple ingredients like coconut milk, condensed milk, and rum for a perfect festive cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13.5 oz) can full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 (15 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup white rum (such as Don Q)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Combine the coconut milk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, rum, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, about 1 minute.
  3. Taste the mixture. If you prefer a stronger rum flavor, add more rum now and pulse briefly.
  4. Pour the Coquito mixture into clean glass bottles or jars with tight-fitting lids. This recipe yields about two 750ml bottles.
  5. Refrigerate the Coquito for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully meld.
  6. Before serving this festive holiday cocktail, shake the bottles well to recombine any separated ingredients.
  7. Serve chilled in small glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top.

Notes

  • For the creamiest texture, chill all canned ingredients before blending.
  • You can substitute the white rum with spiced rum for a warmer flavor profile.
  • Store homemade Coquito in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • If you want a thicker drink, reduce the amount of rum slightly.
