Make this bright red holiday margarita for a beautiful, easy-to-prepare drink. You can mix it for one serving or batch it in a pitcher for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz cranberry juice (100% juice preferred)
  • 1 oz pomegranate juice
  • Optional: 0.5 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • For rim: Coarse salt or sugar
  • For garnish: Fresh cranberries, pomegranate arils, rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Rub the rim of your glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim into a shallow plate with coarse salt or sugar.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, cranberry juice, and pomegranate juice. Add simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  3. Shake well: Close the shaker and shake hard until the outside is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds.
  4. Strain and serve: Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the margarita mixture into the glass.
  5. Garnish: Add fresh cranberries, a few pomegranate arils, and a small rosemary sprig for a festive look.
  6. For a pitcher: Multiply all liquid ingredients by the number of servings needed. Mix all ingredients in a pitcher. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving. Do not add ice to the pitcher; add ice to individual glasses when serving.

Notes

  • For a mocktail version, substitute the tequila and orange liqueur with equal parts sparkling water and a splash of orange juice.
  • If you want a deeper red color, increase the pomegranate juice slightly.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor in this winter tequila drink.
