Make a comforting and simple ground beef casserole using Doritos chips. This recipe is quick to assemble and feeds a family easily.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (9.75 ounce) bag Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir the cream of mushroom soup, tomato soup, water, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the skillet with the meat mixture. Heat until the mixture is hot and well combined.
  4. Spread half of the crushed Doritos in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the meat mixture evenly over the layer of Doritos.
  6. Sprinkle one cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the meat mixture.
  7. Top with the remaining crushed Doritos.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining one cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup if you prefer.
  • For extra flavor, mix one packet of taco seasoning into the meat mixture instead of the chili powder and garlic powder.
  • Use any flavor of Doritos you like, but Nacho Cheese provides the classic taste.
