Make this simple, velvety garlic sauce in just 10 minutes. This versatile condiment uses mayonnaise and lemon juice to create a flavorful dip or drizzle for chicken, steak, or fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced very fine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the minced garlic into a small bowl. Add the salt and pepper. Use the back of a spoon to mash the garlic into the salt until it forms a paste. This releases the flavor.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and olive oil to the bowl with the garlic paste.
  3. Whisk all ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lemon juice as needed for your preference.
  5. Cover the bowl and let the sauce rest in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes before serving. This allows the garlic flavor to fully develop into the sauce.

Notes

  • For a thinner sauce, add 1 teaspoon of cold water at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  • This homemade garlic sauce is best used within 5 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • If you prefer a tangier flavor, substitute half of the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt.
