Learn how to make this creamy, flavorful peanut sauce in just five minutes. It uses simple pantry staples and works perfectly as a dip for spring rolls, a dressing for salads, or a drizzle for noodles and bowls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten free)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 3 to 5 tablespoons hot water (to thin)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients near your mixing bowl or jar.
  2. Place the peanut butter, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, lime juice, ginger, and Sriracha into a medium bowl.
  3. Whisk the ingredients together until they are mostly combined. The mixture will be very thick at this stage.
  4. Add the hot water, one tablespoon at a time, whisking constantly until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Start with 3 tablespoons for a thick dip and add up to 5 tablespoons for a thinner dressing.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed; add more sweetener for sweetness or more lime juice for tang.
  6. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a smoother sauce, you can combine all ingredients in a jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake vigorously until smooth.
  • If you need a gluten free peanut sauce, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to one week. Stir well before using, as it may thicken as it chills.
