Make this simple, no-bake marinated cheese appetizer using cheddar and cream cheese soaked in a flavorful olive oil and herb marinade. It is perfect for entertaining and tastes best when prepared ahead of time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) block sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and cheddar cubes. Mix gently until the cheddar cubes are coated with the cream cheese.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white wine vinegar, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, dill, onion powder, pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
  3. Place the cheese mixture into a shallow, sealable container or a small glass dish. Pour the marinade evenly over the cheese mixture, ensuring all pieces are submerged.
  4. Cover the container tightly. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the cheese to absorb the marinade flavors. This is your make-ahead appetizer step.
  5. When ready to serve, let the cheese sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving. Serve with crackers, pita chips, or crusty bread for a delicious party cheese dip experience.

Notes

  • For a variation, you can add sliced pepperoni or small olives to the container before marinating.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, use Havarti or Monterey Jack cheese instead of cheddar.
  • This dish is excellent for holiday party food and requires no oven time.
