Make this rich, creamy garlic parmesan pasta in one pot in under 20 minutes. It uses simple ingredients and delivers comforting flavor perfect for any weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces angel hair pasta or spaghetti
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the pasta, minced garlic, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) into a large pot or Dutch oven.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to simmer, stirring often, until the liquid has mostly absorbed and the pasta is cooked through, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and butter until fully combined.
  5. Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Serve immediately. Top each serving with extra grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • If you want to add protein, stir in 1 cup of cooked, shredded chicken during the final step.
  • If the sauce seems too thick after resting, add a splash of milk or reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
