Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) block cream cheese, softened
4 ounces smoked cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of salt
Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos for heat
Instructions
Prepare the cream cheese: If you are smoking the cream cheese yourself, smoke a block of cream cheese (plain or seasoned) at 225°F for about 1.5 to 2 hours until it softens slightly and absorbs smoke flavor. Let it cool slightly before proceeding.
Combine ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the softened smoked cream cheese, shredded smoked cheddar, sour cream, chives, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, pepper, and salt.
Mix well: Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to mix all ingredients until the dip is smooth and fully combined. If using, stir in the chopped jalapenos.
Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes. Chilling allows the flavors to meld together.
Serve: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve cold or allow it to come close to room temperature before serving for the best texture. Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, or vegetable sticks.
Notes
For a quick version, use store-bought smoked cream cheese or skip the smoking step and use regular cream cheese mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
This dip is excellent served cold, but you can warm it slightly in the oven (350°F for 10 minutes) for a hot, gooey texture.
Try adding bacon bits or finely chopped green onions for extra flavor variation.
