Ingredients
Scale
1 can (12.4 oz) refrigerated cinnamon rolls (Pillsbury Grands recommended)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 package cream cheese frosting (from the can)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Open the can of cinnamon rolls. Place the rolls into the prepared baking dish, leaving a small space between them.
In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy whipping cream, melted butter, and brown sugar until the sugar begins to dissolve slightly. This is your secret sauce for gooey cinnamon rolls.
Pour the heavy cream mixture evenly over the unbaked cinnamon rolls in the pan.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through. The heavy cream mixture will thicken and create a rich sauce.
Remove the pan from the oven and let the rolls cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
Warm the included cream cheese frosting slightly if it is too stiff, then spread it generously over the warm rolls.
Serve immediately for the best soft, gooey cinnamon rolls experience.
Notes
If you prefer a thicker, more Cinnabon-style frosting, mix the contents of the frosting packet with 1 tablespoon of milk or softened cream cheese until smooth.
For overnight cinnamon rolls hack preparation, assemble the rolls and cream mixture in the pan, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 12 hours before baking. Add 3-5 minutes to the bake time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
This recipe works well with any brand of refrigerated cinnamon rolls, but Pillsbury Grands yield the best size for this viral hack.
